Hattando is located in the city of Nikko, Tochigi prefecture; famous for its hot springs, sacred shrines and especially the lush cedar forests that surround it. Their traditional method is unique as they collect the fallen Sugi (cedar) leaves and turn them into powder with a waterwheel. This fine powder then becomes the fragrant base on which Hattando builds all their incense, which is then packed in locally-sourced Sugi wooden boxes.
